#ELPHIE
Every year, the town of Crediton has a Christmas Tree Festival that takes place in St Boniface Church. Crediton has a long association with the Christmas tree, or rather St Boniface does, who was born locally, hence why there is a festival dedicated to Christmas trees every year. Businesses, charities and associations exhibit trees up and down the isles of the church, over the course of a weekend, and the public get to vote for their favorite.
So this Christmas we got involved, and exhibited our very first Yellow Mouse Studios business tree.
We decided that we would decorate the tree with different Christmas themed logo systems ( A logo system is a logo that adapts to different situations, whilst keeping its original graphic integrity).
This we felt would showcase the design services that our business offers, but we wanted to add something that told the public we also make animations.
How about a giveaway? Something that would allow visitors to interact with our tree, or our website, and get them thinking about creating their own animations....and so our Christmas Elf was born!
We gave away Festive Elf Puppets at the church and on our website, and then invited people of all ages and abilities to enter our Festive Elf competition.

Festive Elf Puppet
It was exciting when the first entries started to arrive, some stop-motion and some had been animated using computer software. However, what amazed us the most was the amount of novice entries we received from people of all ages.
As we started sorting though the animations, we decided to award the prizes to the entries that showed the most imaginative use of the puppet, and in winning would get them thinking about what other animations they could perhaps create in the future. The prizes were awarded to:
1st Place Michael, Crediton
2nd Place - The Turning Tides Project, Crediton
3rd Place - Shafia, Manchester

Here's Michael, our winner, with his prize!
We would like to thank all of those who sent in a animation for our Festive Elf Puppet animation competition, especially our winner Michael, congratulations, and well done for having a go.
Remember, if you're a student, amateur animator, or wanting to try your hand at animation for the first time, we are always available to advise and critic, so don't be afraid to ask. We think that animation is amazing, and if we can spread the message, we're happy to do so!
Remember our motto here at Yellow Mouse Studios....When you are animated, people listen!
